Leeds-based manufacturer Union Industries is expanding its service division as it prepares for a projected 30 per cent increase in demand for its products across the Midlands and South of England.
The business, headquartered in Hunslet, has appointed Pav Gosal as Service Manager and expanded its Milton Keynes service centre, increasing headcount to 11 service engineers. The facility supports the company’s Leeds operation, strengthening customer service across the UK.
The expansion comes as the firm experiences growing commercial activity in the Midlands and South, where it is currently delivering more than a dozen projects, each involving multiple door installations.
To support this growing workload, Union has also appointed two Technical Sales Engineers, with Hannah Franklyn covering the South East and Joe Evans the South West.
The company said its expanded Milton Keynes operation will play a key role in helping it grow its client base by providing faster on-site support, while maintaining its strong roots in Leeds.
Union’s service division now includes an 18-strong team of engineers and support staff across Leeds and Milton Keynes. The increased capacity means the business can respond to servicing and repair needs the same day or within 24 hours, including weekends and nights, helping customers avoid disruption.
The strengthened regional presence is also helping the company reconnect with customers who previously relied on third-party service providers.
“We’re able to retain and maintain relationships with our customers as we design and manufacture the doors ourselves,” said Mr Gosal.
“Our team has detailed knowledge and can respond quickly if an issue arises. That level of expertise is extremely valuable in busy industrial environments where downtime is costly.”
Union said its service division is becoming an increasingly important part of its growth strategy, with more customers signing up for service agreements.
In the last quarter, the division generated £42,000 in additional revenue following the introduction of a new service product designed to improve door mechanisms and extend operational life.
The company added that regular servicing can significantly extend the lifespan of high-speed doors, with annual or biannual maintenance enabling them to last up to 30 years.
Union Industries is an Employee Owned Trust, with all products designed and manufactured in the UK. The company produces high-speed doors for use in factories, warehouses, distribution centres and cold storage facilities.
